End of the Month Recap: October 2011

Okie dokie guacamole (YES, I know I'm a dork! Don't rub it in!). This blog post is completely new! I’m publishing this post at the end of every month (as is stated in the title) so that you, my lovely and wonderful readers, will be updated with any changes that the site, or I myself, have gone through.

The re-cap is at the bottom of the post, but before we get to that...

As of October 10, 2011, I have started to implement new whatsits, whosits, widgets, gadgets and whatchamacallits. As you can probably tell, if you've been following me for a while, the blog has gone through some massive changes – mostly with the design, but content as well. Before we get to that, though, I'd like to thank my new wonderful readers/followers/subscribers! I am so happy that you are following this blog! You honestly don't know how much this means to me. I encourage you, subscribers and non-subscribers alike, to leave comments and feedback whenever you have time and energy! Seventy may not be a big number to some people, but I really appreciate each person who has subscribed and given me a chance. I hope you'll be able to come along this journey, with me, to see this blog grow! I LOVE YOU ALL~ *weeps tears of joy*

AHEM. An-e-wayz…

Let us start with the most obvious thing that has changed – the name. No longer is this blog called "Only Somehwat Queer". Instead, the blog is now titled, "Breaking Bookshelves"! I thought about it and I really don't think I'll be using this blog to post a lot of personal things, so I might as well just make it solely a book blog. I came up with Breaking Bookshelves because that's what I hope to accomplish for everyone. I want people's libraries to grow so large that they may break their bookshelves. Trust me...it's possible...it's happened to me before.

Next thing to talk about - blog design/layout! Yes. As some of you may already know through my CC (Cover Crazy) posts, I like things clean and organized. As that is my design preference, I've made the look of the blog somewhat simpler, and now you can actually see the blog title! Although I'm still not entirely happy with the design because I know squat about HTML/CSS/Javascript, you all will no longer have to squint your eyes at the computer screen to make out my blog's name! In addition, I've put the pages widget right underneath the header so they're easier to find and navigate through. I’m currently trying to figure out a way to fix a bug with the page links though...it's not workin' out *disappointed face*.

I’ve also rearranged many of the widgets, such as putting the GFC follower widget higher on the sidebar. Not to mention, I added a space for “upcoming” events and posts that I’ve finished planning and are now just waiting to be written & published. Additionally, the 'Tags!' widget has been renamed "Categories".

The only thing that hasn't really changed is the colour of the page. It's still pink (though I don't actually know why since it's not even my favourite colour).

Now, as for the content. Well, a lot has changed in that area too. I now have my Policies page up, as well as pages for blog Features, Reviews, Events and – everyone’s favourite: Giveaways. The Contact page has undergone some changes too. As the blog grows, I find that I’m having trouble keeping up with the mail, so I decided that I would use a new e-mail specifically for the blog and that is: onlysomewhatqueer[at]hotmail.com (I made this one when I still had "Only Somewhat Queer as a name and I'm just too lazy to change it). When you go to the contact form and click on the e-mail option, a pop-up window will…well…pop up. That is my e-mail form. If you have any questions or just want to chat, use that form.

The way I write my reviews is going to go through a transition as well. You’ll learn more about it if you read my reviews and my ever-changing review policy.

Also, I probably won't be able to do challenges or monthly reads for a while, especially since school's been busy. All my reading will most likely be for reviews. Anyhoo, I think that’s about it for the changes. Sorry that was so long, I promise the rest of these things won’t be so gigantic.

PS. I will be doing my RAK wrap-up a little later as this week is EXTREMELY busy. This means I will also be sending out the photos of people's booksmarks much later as well.
