As most of you know, from October to November, I will be taking part in the House Millar Virtual Book Tour. Today, we are joined by the wonderful Aine P. Massie to talk a little about one of her fondest childhood memories and the inspiration behind the House Millar series. Curious? Why don' t we get this show started?
GUEST POST BY AINE P. MASSIE
Hello and thank you for supporting the virtual book tour for both Blood’s Voice (House Millar #1) and the soon to be released Blood Bound (House Millar #2). Both books are paranormal romance featuring the strange and eclectic House Millar. I appreciate the honour.
I’ll begin by letting you into a little of my life. Demijel asked me to share one of my fondest childhood memoires and so I will offer you each a virtual bowl of pineapple sherbet, a comfy seat, and a warm blanket to curl up in while you ‘listen’ to me ramble a bit.
When I was little I spent a lot of time sick. Both of my parents worked so when I was ill I spent most of my time with my maternal grandparents. For me, this was wonderful. I loved my Mimi and Grandy dearly. I didn’t enjoy being sick but there was nothing I could do about that, lol.
My Mimi was a strong willed woman that indulged me. Ok, read that as spoiled… I can remember being curled up between my Mimi and Grandy, eating pineapple sherbet – her favourite, I believe – watching Dallas and Falcon Crest. I don’t remember a thing about the weird, “Grown-up” shows but rather the feelings of being loved, protected, and included by those I loved.
There little bits and pieces of things they taught me throughout the House Millar series. Everything from where I got the name Millar to the idea that caring for and protecting others, especially those weaker, is important. You may not see that from a little sherbet but believe me, feeling safe and loved is the greatest gift anyone can receive… They did that for me and my parents provided me the opportunity to learn and receive those gifts while providing for and protecting me.
I tried to include some of those qualities in Star, Anya ‘mom’ in the series. I hope you can see the care and love, even without the sherbet. ;)
Now, a little about how Blood’s Voice and the House Millar came about. I have played RPG’s since the mid-nineties (I know, I got a late start ;) ). I have always loved creating, reading, and writing. One day when we were working on a new game set-up I started bouncing ideas around for a new character. This brain storming was the birth of Anya, Mistress of the House Millar.
During talking about the ideas for a slightly left of centre, damaged vampire with a serious problem… a conscious, it was suggested that I should try writing all this ‘stuff’ down. A few friends thought the idea, especially once I started fleshing out her world, sounded great and they wanted to know more.
When I started to write Blood’s Voice I didn’t imagine that it would end up being a novel, much less a series. It wasn’t until I was approximately half way through that the inspiration for Blood Bound presented itself. Anya went from a vague idea for a game to a Voice that wouldn’t be silenced. Add to that the fact that Nicholas and Declán soon joined the ranks of insistent imagination and soon they took over the story.
The story definitely went places I hadn’t originally intended but in the end, I’m very happy with where the characters led. Some of the topics are things I feel very strongly about or have a personal impact on my own life. Take a chance on an unusual vampire and her family to learn, explore, and simply have a little fun.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Áine P Massie is originally from Florida, she now lives in Wisconsin where she works on her House Millar series full time while raising four children (the term herding cats comes to mind). Her major in College was Childhood Education (0-5) with a minor study in Deaf Culture/ASL. She is also a Wiccan priestess dedicated to the gods, family, and love.
A life-long reader, Áine has always had a particular fascination with vampires, mythology, and the unusual. When she can escape from her children and books, she enjoys .. oh yes, reading, playing, ritual, a good cappuccino, and working with her healing stones.
Her first published work came in high school where she was part of a writing and drama group. But, she’s been reading the likes of Shakespeare and Poe since late elementary school and enjoys most forms of fiction. Blood’s Voice has been a long time in coming and with its publication (June 2011) Áine embarked on a new chapter in her life.
Áine P Massie is currently working on her third novel, Glamour Blade.

Anya Millar had no memory of her life or an instruction manual on how to navigate the insane world of humans, biting, and reality. Instead, Anya has had to learn to navigate the world of love, life, and sanity while avoiding those that would see her dead or enslaved.
This is the ongoing journey of Anya and Nicholas, human loving vampires and the human they love, Declán. What makes it all more complicated is that they are abominations in their own world and Declán is a natural born vampire hunter called a Guardian.
Anya must come to terms with who she is and her missing past, Nicholas must win back the object of his eternal love while dealing with new cravings in his silent heart, and Declán must learn to destroy the very creatures that he has unequivocally given his heart and blood.
