Ok, so Banned Books Week (BBW) started on the 24th in the US! Are you as excited as I am? (Yes, I know I live in Canada, it doesn’t change anything. I’m still participating~).
Be ready to celebrate the freedom to read whatever you want! BBW is an annual event held in the last week of September that encourages readers and non-readers alike to read books that have come across some sort of censorship, whether actual or attempted banning. It gives you the chance to access information that seems unorthodox or unpopular and gives you the freedom to discuss it openly! Choose what you want to read without being told that you can’t!
Help librarians, teachers, publishers and booksellers around the country spread the word about the dangers of censorship. Without them, the books that are so loved today would not be here.

For my fellow Canadians though, we have something like BBW, but it is called Freedom to Read Week instead. It will be held next year from February 26 to March 3. Be sure to participate and spread the word! And remember, literacy is important!
And one last thing! Which banned book are you planning to read this week?
